“And yet it moves…”

HOME ACTIVITIES

4-6 YEARS

Materials

  • Aluminum foil
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon or rope

Proccess:

  1. Take the aluminum foil and cut it into 30 cm long pieces.
  2. Take two pieces and stack them on top of each other.
  3. Along with your helper, cut the aluminum foil at the points shown in the diagram.
  4. Take the pipe cleaners and place them as shown in the diagram.
  5. Wrap the aluminum foil (both sheets) around each pipe cleaner. Form a human figure with legs, arms and a head.
  6. Use the scissors to cut out a few strips of aluminum foil and wrap them where pipe cleaner wires are visible.
  7. Begin twisting your figure around to give it movement. You can make it run or dance.
  8. Once you create the movement, then decide whether you want to hang it from a piece of rope or place it on a base.
  9. If you decide on a base, then create a large mass with the aluminum foil around one of the legs, so that it can be fixed in place.
  10. You can create more human figures, representing different kind of movements.
