“And yet it moves…”
HOME ACTIVITIES
4-6 YEARS
Materials
- Aluminum foil
- Pipe cleaners
- Scissors
- Ribbon or rope
Proccess:
- Take the aluminum foil and cut it into 30 cm long pieces.
- Take two pieces and stack them on top of each other.
- Along with your helper, cut the aluminum foil at the points shown in the diagram.
- Take the pipe cleaners and place them as shown in the diagram.
- Wrap the aluminum foil (both sheets) around each pipe cleaner. Form a human figure with legs, arms and a head.
- Use the scissors to cut out a few strips of aluminum foil and wrap them where pipe cleaner wires are visible.
- Begin twisting your figure around to give it movement. You can make it run or dance.
- Once you create the movement, then decide whether you want to hang it from a piece of rope or place it on a base.
- If you decide on a base, then create a large mass with the aluminum foil around one of the legs, so that it can be fixed in place.
- You can create more human figures, representing different kind of movements.
