Georgios Karampelas
Giorgos Karampelas is a digital media and communications professional with a strong background in cultural institutions and academic research. Born in Athens in 1992, he holds a degree in Cultural Technology and Communication from the University of the Aegean, and a MA in Digital Media (MA) from Goldsmiths, University of London. Since February 2020, he is a PhD candidate at the University of the Aegean with a research focus on Digital Culture & Digital Humanities.
From 2016 to 2021, Giorgos worked in the Communication Department of the Museum of Cycladic Art, specializing in digital development and communication.
He played a key role in shaping and maintaining the museum’s digital and visual identity, managing its entire suite of websites. Additionally, he participated in the communication strategy regarding the Museum’s temporary exhibitions, both archaeological and contemporary, as project coordinator and/or project manager.
Between December 2021 and February 2024, he served as Digital Communications Manager at the Center of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In this role, he oversaw the Center’s digital strategy, led the design and management of its official website, coordinated with external partners and development teams, and implemented custom WordPress sites to support diverse educational collaborations. His work emphasized effective communication, cross-functional project coordination, and scalable digital infrastructure.
Since February 2024 he has been working as a Digital Media Manager at the Museum of Cycladic Art. In this role, he focuses on the use of digital technologies, visual communication, coordinating the production of audiovisual material, and designing and implementing the communication strategy for major exhibitions—both archaeological and contemporary art—as well as for the Museum’s broader programming as a key member of the Communication team. He is also the administrator of the Museum’s website (cycladic.gr), responsible for its smooth operation, updates, and visual and functional redesign in accordance with evolving needs.
