Dr. Evy Papadopoulou

Evy Papadopoulou holds a PhD in Prehistoric Archaeology from the University of Ioannina. She specializes in mycenaean settlements / citadels and mycenaean cemeteries, with a particular emphasis on the social stratification of local communities.

Since 1996 she has been an active member of systematic excavations in Greece (Patras, Olynthus of Halkidiki, Dodona, Ithaca) and abroad (Jordan) overseeing the archaeological research and at the same time educating students on excavation techniques.
She has participated in international scientific conferences and has written and edited articles and monographs, while she also collaborates with the teams of the Shipwreck and the Antikythera Mechanism for the design of educational programmes.

She has worked at the 1st (Acropolis Museum) and 2nd Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities, at the Central Archaeological Council of the Ministry of Culture, as well as at the National Archaeological Museum excavating, documenting finds, organizing exhibitions and educational programs, and conducting tours for distinguished visitors.

During the last decade she has been active in the field of cultural storytelling, with ultimate aim the transmission of archaeological knowledge and the ancient Greek civilization to the public. She writes and presents the Archaeological Tales, original stories, based on real archaeological sites and finds, currently published as book series by Patakis Publishers, while she has also collaborated with DIAZOMA Association as an archaeologist-storyteller and with COSMOTE TV, writing the script for the documentary “Ancient Greek Technology – From God to Man”.

Since April 2023 she works as Curator of Antiquities at the Museum of Cycladic Art.
