In this episode Dr. Ioannis Fappas, Curator of Prehistoric Antiquities at the Museum of Cycladic Art talks with Dr. Evy Papadopoulou, Curator of Prehistoric Antiquities at the Museum of Cycladic Art about the rise, the decline and the key characteristics of the Mycenaean civilization. The discussion sheds light on major achievements such as the drainage of Kopaida, the complex road network and the construction of monumental tombs, but also on aspects of everyday life in the Mycenaean period that are unknown to many. Finally, the two archaeologists discuss the importance and appeal of the Homeric heroes, as defined by the Mycenaeans, in shaping a cultural identity from antiquity to the present day.
