Immersive Workshops for Mental Health Organizations

EDUCATION

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

THE PROGRAM

The Museum of Cycladic Art is implementing, in October, four experiential workshops, in which beneficiaries of mental health institutions, using the Body and visual materials as a “vehicle”, will have the opportunity to communicate, interact and encounter different aspects of themselves through creative expression.

The aim of the workshops is for individuals to approach emotion and its representation through human form, as presented in Dumas’s work. Through movement and color, participants will explore ideas related to ambiguity and ambivalence, shame, social inequality, racism and violence, identity, life and death — themes that emerge from the artworks presented in the exhibition.

Key themes of the workshops:

– Body Image and how it relates to identity.
– Self-Image – how we present ourselves to the outside world.

Each workshop focuses on the specific characteristics and needs of each group, using movement and artistic materials as tools for the process of exploration, emotional release, and transformation.

The program is exlusively addressed to beneficiaries of mental health organizations.
