COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

THE PROGRAM

A program launched in 2016 that during three consecutive years offered a series of crosscultural educational workshops to refugees – mostly unaccompanied minors – and Greek students.

In these workshops, children speaking different languages and from different social, economic and cultural backgrounds, learned to use Cypro-Minoan syllabary as a shared code of communication through art.

In 2021-2022, the Museum of Cycladic Art with the aim of further enhancing its social projects towards becoming an open and accessible museum to all vulnerable groups, organized a new intercultural program for children from multiple ethnic communities residing in Athens, with the support of the Helidoni Foundation.

The aim of the project was the coexistence and cooperation between children from different ethnic communities as well as the provision of the Museum of Cycladic Art experience and communication with a cultural institution through its permanent collections.

IT INCLUDED

Educational workshops

Educational workshops outside the Museum for primary intercultural school students residing in Athens. Capitalizing on the museum’s educational kit and materials, children had the opportunity to live the museum experience and “meet” the permanent collections as well as to create their own material.

Crosscultural workshops

Crosscultural educational workshops within the Museum, for children aged 12 to 17 years old, in collaboration with the non-profit organizations Polyphonica and the Network for Children’s Rights that carry out actions for vulnerable children from different ethnic communities.
