“Image, Shape, Color!”

DECEMBER 2026

FOR CHILDREN 7-11 YEARS OLD

THE PROGRAM

We will draw inspiration from the Leonard A. Lauder Cubist Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in New York, as well as from the early Cubist landscapes of Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso. In their works, landscapes are transformed—from shapes, planes, lines, and colors—into compositions.
As we view works from the Collection, we will explore how artists deconstruct and reconstruct the image, and we will experiment with the technique of collage, which was a significant innovation of Cubism.

Through cutting, rearranging, and reassembling, we will create our own Cubist image and discover how a familiar landscape can change when we view it from multiple angles at the same time.

PS: Children need to wear casual and comfy clothes and be ready to get messy, as we will definitely get messy!
