“Image, Word, Message!”

OCTOBER 2026

FOR CHILDREN 7-11 YEARS OLD

THE PROGRAM

Our starting point will be the history of protest art and the social and political movements of the 1960s and 1970s, as presented in the “Fighting MoMA” digital archive of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Through examples of posters and printed material from the period, as well as works by artists and collectives such as Barbara Kruger, the Guerrilla Girls, Emory Douglas, Sister Corita Kent, and Ben Shahn, we will explore how images, words, and composition can create a powerful message and express a social or political stance.

We will then create our own posters using the technique of collage, experimenting with combinations of images and text to create a personal composition and convey our own message.

PS: Children need to wear casual and comfy clothes and be ready to get messy, as we will definitely get messy!
