Students’ visit

RESEARCH

TUESDAY 14 MAY, 2024

On Thuesday, May 14, our Museum welcomed a group of undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of History and Archeology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, accompanied by the Assistant Professor of Prehistoric Archeology and Scientific Director of our Museum, Dr Ioannis Fappas, as part of an educational trip held in the context of the course “Island cultures of the Eastern Mediterranean of the 3rd millennium BC”. The students had the opportunity to study the artifacts of Cycladic and Cypriot culture housed in our Museum, attend presentations, and participate in round table discussions on special topics held by the Museum curators and invited specialists. (Dr Mariza Marthari, Ephor Emeritus of the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades and Dr Vasiliki Papageorgiou, Head of the Directorate of Documentation and Protection of Cultural Goods of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture).

Our ambition for this pilot educational activity, is to be repeated in a regular basis, providing the opportunity for Greek and foreign universities and departments of archeology to visit our Museum and educate their students with the help of our collections and our specialized scientific staff.
