There are hundreds of them online in practically every language—they are ready-made phrases, authors unknown, except in rare cases. Dora Economou selected pangrams in Greek, French and English and designed an original typeface for each language to create what you might describe as concrete poetry, or Dadaist poetry, or a form of linguistic conceptualism.
Dora Economou was born in Athens (1974) where she lives and works. She is a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, ΝΥ. Recent solo exhibitions include: ”Pangrams & Slogans” (2020) and “Representation” (2019), both at Radio Athènes; “Imbat Ambit” (together with Yasemin Nur) (2019) & “Mountains & Valleys” (2016) both at Francoise Heitsch Gallery, Munich. She is the recipient of a 2020 Fellowship at the Akiyoshidai International Art Village in Yamaguchi, Japan.
