Young Patrons Summer Weekend 2024
YOUNG PATRONS
12 – 14 JULY 2024
THE EVENT
The Young Patrons Summer Weekend is an event that takes place every year on a different island of the Cyclades with the aim of highlighting and promoting it through a singular program of archaeological and cultural activities, addressed to the dynamic group of the museum’s Friends, the Cycladic Young Patrons.
This year the Young Patrons had the opportunity to be guided around Despotiko by Yiannos Kouragios, Director of Systematic Excavation of the Despotiko restoration program. They also watched the choreography of Antonis Foniadakis entitled “Bolero”, while the program also included a specially curated dinner at a traditional tavern. The anticipated Summer Party was held at the legendary Disco La Luna and the program concluded with brunch and a bread making workshop at The Rooster Farmhouse.
Every year the museum invites artists and creators from different artistic fields to exclusive collaborations as part of the Cycladic Young Patrons Summer Weekend program, highlighting every aspect of contemporary art. This year the internationally renowned designer Mary Katrantzou created the visual identity of the Young Patrons Summer Weekend inspired by the island of Antiparos and the sacred island of Despotiko.
One of the most special moments of this year’s Summer Weekend was the presentation of the choreography “Bolero” by the acclaimed choreographer Antonis Foniadakis in a unique performance in the local “pantofla” boat, which took place in collaboration with the Kalamata International Dance Festival and its artistic director Linda Kapetanea.
