“The world in my body”

DANCE WORKSHOP

FOR CHILDREN 4- 6 & 7-12 YEARS OLD

THE WORKSHOP

Focusing on how we can gain a more comprehensive insight of our intricate relationship with what we see as body, we will play thinking about how an idea is translated into different practices, i.e., the art of dance, sculpture, painting and drawing.

During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to develop motor skills, to express how they experience their own body, the body of another person or the body of a group of people as well as to discover how the body is interconnected with the environment.

We will seize the opportunity to play and understand how a movement becomes a painting, how a painting becomes a sculpture, how a sculpture becomes a dance genre. We will further explore how we can capture the body’s movement, how we dance a painting trace and how we paint our dance. We will paint and then we will dance our painting. We will explore our body as colors and shapes, the movement of bodies as moving traces and the group’s movement as a painting. We will explore our body as a moving sculpture, the transformation both in our body and in the sculpture of clay and space.

During the workshop, the organizers will host an exhibition or a performance which will be presented to parents and friends on the last day.
The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of their previous dance experience and aspires to create a safe shared space.
