Day Trip to Chalkis
YOUNG PATRONS
APRIL 13 2024
Our Young Patrons had the opportunity to participate in a day trip to Chalkis!
Our day trip began with a visit to the Karababa Fortress, one of Chalkis’ landmarks which lies on a hill on the Boeotian coast and offers a magnificent view of the city. It occupies a strategic position, overlooking the straits of Euripus and the town.
Then we headed to the eastern side of the city to visit the Archaeological Museum “Arethousa”. An exceptional example of industrial architecture of the 20th century, the museum houses artifacts from all over Euboea, dating from the Prehistoric period to the present day.
Our day trip was completed with a lunch in the city of Chalkis.
The guided tour was led in Greek by the Assistant Curator of Antiquities of the Museum of Cycladic Art, Marietta Kypriotaki.
