Curators’ tour at the exhibition “This Curreent Between Us”
YOUNG FRIENDS
JANUARY 21 2023
The exhibition “This Current Between Us” was presented at the first steam-electric power plant in Greece, now the Historic Steam Electric Station of Neo Faliro . Parts of the station opened to the public for the first time, revealing unseen aspects of the industrial estate.
Throughout the premises, the visitor came into contact with extensive archival material from the Historical Archive of DEI, which was in dialogue with new productions of visual works by international artists: paintings, sculptures, visual installations, videos, sound works and performances.
The exhibition “This Current Between Us” brought together works by 42 artists and groups – 30 of which were new productions – that revealed unseen aspects of the industrial architectural residue but also brought to the fore words and questions we use in our daily lives. How is energy produced, how is it dissipated? What protects us from danger? How is memory repelled?
The guided tour was conducted by the exhibition’s curators Panos Giannikopoulos and Georgia Liapi.
