“Kara Walker, black silhouettes!”

APRIL 2024

FOR CHILDREN 7-11 YEARS OLD

THE PROGRAM

Her work is most prominently characterized by large-scale compositions of black silhouettes, portraying historical narratives and raising questions regarding racism and human rights violations. By reviving the Victorian silhouette technique right on the gallery walls, she directs our focus to pivotal historical events that ought not be forgotten, crafting an almost theatrical portrayal of these moments.

Inspired by her work, we welcome our young friends (aged 7-10) to craft their own representations, combining black silhouettes with vibrant colors!

PS.: Children need to wear casual and comfy clothes and be ready to get messy, as we will definitely get messy!
