Silver cufflinks inspired by an ancient Boeotian shield. The shield is one of the oldest defensive weapons, a weapon glorified by ancient writers and an integral part of the arsenal of the notorious Boeotian warriors. According to the Greek mythology, Athamas, son of the king of the Minyans who was also called Chalkos, built the first shield offering the future emblem of his birthplace.
The Boeotian shield, which was imprinted on innumerable coins, is a variation of the Dipylon shield which bars two side notches, resembling to the number eight.
