Mosaic with Symbol

A decorative object, created with the art of mosaic, presenting the symbol of Tanit, the patron goddess of the Phoenician religion, associated with the fertile earth, the moon and life. A similar mosaic was found in the House of the Dolphins, a luxurious residence of the 2nd century BC on Delos, with a Hellenistic mosaic depicting dolphins and marine themes. The symbol of Tanit was placed at the entrance of the house, possibly functioning as an apotropaic symbol for the protection of the house.
