Masterpieces of ancient metalwork, Macedonian wreaths adorned the heads of men, women, and children at some particularly important moments in their lives. Attributes of social status, prizes in sports competitions and grave goods, i.e. gifts to the beloved ones who died, were always connected with mythology and the gods, giving special qualities to those who wore them.
This particular copy, which represents the leaves and fruits of an oak tree, testified in antiquity to the high social status of the person who wore it, as the tree was associated with the worship of Zeus, the father of the gods.
