"Crocus" Earrings

€260.00

Gold plated mother of pearl stud earrings incised with crocus.

In Greek mythology, Crocus was a young man transformed into the saffron plant by the god Hermes, who accidentally killed him during a discus throw. Three drops of Crocus’s blood became the three red spots at the center of the crocus flower.

Representing earth’s fertility and the seasonal cycle, saffron has long been valued as an aromatic herb, aphrodisiac, poison, and hallucinogen. In ancient Cyclades, it was associated with sanctuaries, goddesses, and worship. Known for its healing properties, the crocus holds a special place in medical history and remains one of Greece’s most celebrated aromatic and medicinal plants.
