The innovation of the present project was in its synthetic character which combined the contemporary role of\u00a0 museums, the socio-anthropological paradigm for disability and the conventions for the rights of people with disabilities and human rights.<\/p>\n<p><b>The <\/b><b>ToMiMEUs<\/b><b> project aimed to address the following objectives:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>To raise awareness among museum staff<\/b> and update their knowledge regarding the barriers that individuals with sensory disabilities may encounter in museum environments, as well as the techniques and emerging technologies that can enhance accessibility and inclusion.<\/li>\n<li><b>To create learning, cultural and social opportunities<\/b> for individuals with sensory disabilities, while also fostering interaction and participation among mixed groups of visitors with and without disabilities within museum spaces.<\/li>\n<li><b>To promote collaboration between museums and universities<\/b>, encouraging the exchange of knowledge, research and practical expertise in the field of accessibility and inclusive museum practices.<\/li>\n<li><b>To identify and highlight best practices and guidelines<\/b> for the development of accessible, multisensory and inclusive museums for visitors with sensory disabilities.<\/li>\n<li>These objectives were identified through an <b>up-to-date review of the relevant literature<\/b>. The <b>nine <\/b><b>organisations<\/b><b> participating in the <\/b><b>ToMiMEUs<\/b><b> project<\/b>\u2014including universities, museums and a European museum association\u2014combined their knowledge and experience in order to address these objectives and contribute to the development of a <b>multisensory and inclusive museum environment for individuals with sensory disabilities and for all visitors<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n  <!-- Rich Text Editor Start -->\n  <\/div>\n\n                  <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"section ContentBlock\"  id=\"activities-results\" >\n  <header class=\"blockheader\">\n  <h2 class=\"title\">ACTIVITIES &#038; RESULTS<\/h2>  <\/header>\n\n    \n  <div class=\"main mobileFirst\">\n    <div class=\"left \">\n                        <div class=\"mainText\">\n<p>Within the framework of the project, the museum created a <b>mobile tactile display case for people with multisensory disabilities<\/b>, which made the museum\u2019s permanent collection, <i>Cycladic Art<\/i>, fully accessible.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, <b>videos in sign language<\/b> were produced and installed both at the museum entrance and at various points throughout the permanent collections. These videos provide visitors with multisensory disabilities with important information about their visit to the museum.<\/p>\n<p>The <b>mobile tactile display case<\/b> and the programme <b>\u201cIn Touch\u201d<\/b> were based on the research conducted as part of the project and were implemented with the sponsorship of <b>Eurolife<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>For the programme <b>\u201cIn Touch\u201d<\/b>, implemented in collaboration with the <b>Museum of Cycladic Art<\/b>, which made the museum accessible to people with visual and hearing impairments, <b>Eurolife<\/b><b> received two Gold awards<\/b> in the categories <i>\u201cEqual Participation \/ Diversity, Inclusion, Equal Opportunities\u201d<\/i> and <i>\u201cESG &amp; SDGs \/ Reduced Inequalities\u201d<\/i>, as well as <b>one Bronze award<\/b> in the category <i>\u201cExcellence in Collaboration \/ Corporate &amp; NGO Partnership\u201d<\/i>.<\/p>\n\n  <!-- Rich Text Editor Start -->\n  <\/div>\n\n                  <\/div>\n    <div class=\"right sticky\">\n              <div class=\"contentSidebar\">\n      <div \n      class=\"imgWithCaption card  \" \n          >\n        <figure class=\"image ratio-L_3-2\">\n              <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cycladic.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/MG_8135-1.jpg\" alt=\"Image of the mobile tactile display case The image shows a small cycladic figurine displayed inside a museum case.
