To accommodate growing interest, the Museum of Cycladic Art is extending visiting hours on Fridays from 17:00 to 21:00, starting on March 28.<\/p>\n

During these special evening hours, visitors can explore the exhibition with the assistance of “Ask Me” guides, who will be available to share compelling insights and answer questions about the remarkable exhibits.<\/p>\n

It is the first-ever pan-Cycladic exhibition to present history through the perspective of the women of the Cyclades, spanning from antiquity to the 19th century.<\/p>\n\n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

Works of unique artistic value portray the Cycladic woman as a goddess, priestess, worshipper, mother, wife, merchant, fighter, intellectual, and sometimes as an image of fear, as a victim of gender violence or as an object of desire.<\/p>\n

Among them, three works stand out for their uniqueness and size: the Colossal Kore of Thera dated in the Archaic period, which is being exhibited to the public for the first time, the emblematic fresco of the \u201cWomen in the Sanctuary\u201d from Akrotiri on Thera, and Artemis Elaphebolos from Delos, a statue from the Hellenistic period, which is being exhibited outside the island for the first time.<\/p>\n
