\n \u201cVery often I find that I paint half the work and complete the rest with words\u201d said Alexis Akrithakis, an important Greek artist who died young leaving a considerable amount of work, which continues to astonish with its remarkable variety and inventiveness.\n <\/div>\n \n \n<\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n

The exhibition was based on an idea the artist himself had discussed with his friend Maria Kotzamani, curator of the present show. The central concept was a playful and original artistic classification, in which colours, words, and scripts are developed alphabetically, leading to new and unexpected correlations and exciting images. This alluring alphabet from A to Z is like the secret pages of a personal diary, offering the viewer the chance to approach the enchanted world of Akrithakis\u2019s painting and to decipher the language of his symbols: the Airplane, the Flames, the Hearts, the Geographies and the Scripts, the magic Tree, etc.<\/p>\n

The exhibition was accompanied by a small catalogue with information on the artist\u2019s life and work.<\/p>\n\n \n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n
