Greek fighting among ancient ruins, 1829Depicted in this oil painting is a Greek Kapetan with his palicars, holed up amidst the ruins of an ancient temple and battling against the Turks. The brave leader holds a pistol in one hand and the flag with a cross nailed to its pole in the other.
