Lekythia were vases with a handle, a narrow neck, and a deep mouth, used mainly for storing aromatic oils used by women and athletes. They were also used as containers for offering oil to the dead. This Cypriot lekythion is decorated on the shoulder with two large, facing fishes. Miniature amphora, “amphoriskos”, decorated with a swan on both sides of the shoulder. The name of the vase derives from the words «αμφί» + «φέρω», meaning carrying from both sides. It is a vase with two vertical handles starting from the body. The amphorae were used for storing and transporting oil, wine, small fruits, and water.
