LARGE KANDILA

300

Description

One of the most characteristic type of marble vessel of the Early Cycladic I period. Its use in the daily life of the Early Cycladic people remains enigmatic. The popular name kandila derives from its resemblance to ritual vessels (oil lamps) of modern Greek Orthodox churches in the Cyclades in many of which such vases were used until recently.
