Lekythia were vases with a handle, a narrow neck, and a deep mouth, which were mainly used for storing aromatic oils for women and athletes. The shoulder of this Cypriot lekythion is decorated with two waterfowl having their beaks open and their heads turned towards the ground. The two birds are flanking a large, central lotus flower.
