CHILDREN AGED 8-10 YEARS

The world is a vast mirror. Workshops for children aged 8-10 years

ANNOUNCEMENT // PROGRAM CANCELLED

Following the announcement about the new measures for the protection of Public Health concerning coronavirus COVID-19, we would like to inform you that for prevention purposes, all the weekend family programs scheduled in March will be cancelled.

THE WORKSHOP

How is the self portrayed in the visual arts? How do different cultures, ancient and contemporary, conceive the ‘self’? How do we form our view of the world and others?

Through creative play and art activities the children explore and nurture aspects of their personality, and negotiate concepts, such as team, conflict, family, change, and diversity. Using different techniques each time we discover the limits and possibilities of the materials and of the self.

MARCH 2020

“Wanted”
Sunday 22/3, 11:30-13:30

In his work Runaways, Glenn Ligon asked his friends to describe him as if reporting a missing person to the police. In this workshop we learn about the artist’s work, ask questions like “what is important for me?” or “how would I describe myself?”, and create abstract self-portraits. We are then transported to the Wild West, where, chased by sheriffs, we create and print posters of wanted criminals.

P.S. Children, please wear comfortable, casual clothes and be prepared to get dirty, because we will surely get dirty!

The workshop is offered in Greek, English speaking children can also participate

“Leaving my mark”
Sunday 29/3, 11:30-13:30

Our fingerprints are unique. They are part of our identity. We play with them, transform them with pen and ink, leave our hand’s imprint on clay, and create our own unique masterpiece that no one can copy.

P.S. Children, please wear comfortable, casual clothes and be prepared to get dirty, because we will surely get dirty!

The workshop is offered in Greek, English speaking children can also participate.
