Cycladic Late Night 2018

Last chance to visit the exhibitions George Condo at Cycladic and Paul Chan | Odysseus and the Bathers {presented by NEON} in a special late night event at the Museum of Cycladic Art. On Thursday October 11th from 21:00 to midnight, the Museum’s premises will stay open.

 

A parallel event of electro-acoustic live performances will also take place. Three Athens-based music performers of the experimental scene: PANOS ALEXIADIS, BILL ANAGNOS & ΚΟSTADIS will transform the space of -1 into a gig space. Live music begins at 21.30.

LIVE PERFRORMANCES

Panos Alexiadis is a sound artist and musician, exploring the boundaries between composition and improvisation in contemporary electronic and electroacoustic music. He has participated in over 40 albums with various projects and has given many concerts in Greece and Europe. Lately he has been exploring a more introvert sound environment, using a modular synthesizer as the primary means of expression, in combination with natural sounds, magnetic tape and ambience. In April 2017, as part of documenta 14, he performed his own composition live at Megaron (The Athens Concert Hall) using a rare EMS Synthi 100, whereas in July 2017 he presented his first multichannel sound installation at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

Over the years, I was forced to make a personal project alongside “free piece of tape” a band I keep with Turbo Teeth since 2004. So I built one fantastic hero Bill Anagnos with excellent skills in handling various vehicles. In this hero I uploaded extra childhood metadata such as imitating the sound of the exhaust dragging a matchbox in the school yard, images from performances of Samson and the families of Koutalianos in the village square, the domestic stress not to spoil the record player and scratch the discs. These images are translated into sound collecting prerecorded material, vandalizing vinyl records and rotating buttons on audio mixing console.

Bill Anagnos

KOSTADIS, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer and the project architect of ‘Two Thousand Places‘, is an active member of Wham Jah and Lost Bodies and has released in addition to several contributions to works (Acid Baby Jesus, In Trance 95 ect) two solo albums: UNLEASH from Phase! Records in 2016 and SLUMBER – 3 ways to calm & sleep peacefully, a self released mini album, in 2017. KOSTADIS New album "FRAGMENTS" Split LP published in September 2018 with UNCLE GRASHA's FLYING CIRCUS "Hüzün - Húzûn" from Czech Republic, by Sweetohm recordings in an edition of 300 copies on black vinyl. The live performances of KOSTADIS based entirely on free improvisation and the exploitation of the perturbed inner (emotional, spiritual, mental) balance compose instances of a special and unique obsessed entanglement of the thoughts, the experiences, the isolated sounds and the sentiments of the month, the week, the day, the moment. KOSTADIS most recent performances include the internationally acclaimed (New York Times article) “634 minutes inside a volcano” in 2016, the sound installation of the large scale video “1095°C” in collaboration with sound designer Pavlo Gkousio for the Benaki Museum, and his collaboration with light designer Stella Kaltsou for the SNFCC&nbsp; produced series “Microclimata”.
